2019 Service Awards

It says a lot about a company when its employees are willing to spend decades of their lives working for the company, but it says even more about the quality of the people who give so much of themselves. The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies has a strong base of employees who enthusiastically support the mission of the Group, which is to enrich lives. As employees reach important employment milestones of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service with the Group, they are celebrated at a special dinner hosted by Steve Starks, Raymond Hall, and other leaders from within the Group.

A Life of Service

In October, the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies celebrated our tremendous employees and their years of service. Within the span of three weeks, we honored employees who have dedicated 10 to 40 years of their professional years to our company. We also celebrated five-year employees at some of our dealerships. Adding to its 2019 Consumer Satisfaction Award and 2019 Dealer of the Year award, Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria was named a “Best Dealership to Work For” 2019. Automotive News uses this program to measure workplace satisfaction, talent retention, and excellent care of employees through a confidential survey of employers and employees.

Since the promotion of Steve Starks to CEO of the LHM Group, a search has been underway for a new president of LHM Sports & Entertainment. Earlier this fall, a new president was announced, and Jim Olson was selected for the position.

Utah Cycling Elevated

Utah’s motto “Life elevated” has expanded into the competitive sports scene. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) global cycling federation announced that the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah (TOU) cycling stage race has been selected to join the men’s professional road cycling UCI ProSeries.

Making Movie and Racing History

What better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres than with a movie about the legendary race cars that are part of the Miller family’s car collection? Gail Miller, members of the Miller family, LHM management, and employees were joined in the Megaplex celebration by representatives from several Hollywood studios, business and community leaders, as well as car and movie fans.

A Partnership of Hope

Qualtrics, a Utah experience management company, renewed its partnership with the Utah Jazz to continue as the sponsor of the Utah Jazz jersey patch and reaffirmed its commitment to cancer research by continuing to donate the patch to 5 For The Fight through the 2022-23 season.

Return of the All-Star Game

The NBA has selected Salt Lake City to host the 72nd NBA All-Star Game, which will take place at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023. This will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1993 NBA All-Star Game played in Salt Lake City.

Your “Give Us Five” Donations at Work

Larry H. Miller Charities donates toward 501(c)(3) nonprofit charities that focus on assisting women and children who live in the communities where LHM Group companies are based. Emphasis is placed on funding programs that address the issues of health and education. More than $400,000 has been contributed in recent months.

Taking a Seat and a Stand for Safety

On September 21, 2019, National Seat Check Saturday, Larry H. Miller Dealerships, in partnership with Safe Kids, Child Crisis Arizona, and local first responders, kicked off its fifth annual Keys to Car Seat Safety campaign. The initiative was an effort focused on raising awareness for child passenger safety and keeping Arizona children safe.

November 11 was Veterans Day, when the nation celebrates those who have served in the armed forces. For the LHM Group, Veterans Day is a significant event, as we have many employees who are veterans. In each entity where they are employed, managers and co-workers took time to pay their respects and honor their contributions.

Game Night with the Utah Jazz

This October marked the 21st year the Jazz have hosted a charitable event with proceeds benefitting Make-A-Wish Utah and LHM Charities. The event featured family and video games, trivia, photo stations, and locker room tours. Attendees also had the opportunity to play basketball on the court. A game of “Family Feud” with select Jazz players served as the evening’s main entertainment.
